Asimismo, el país andino siempre se ha caracterizado por la convivencia entre la población mestiza y los diversos grupos étnicos, especialmente los indígenas, aunque en ocasiones también se han dado casos de discriminación contra el último colectivo por parte de los mestizos. La comunicación en salud es uno de los múltiples enfoques para abordar este tipo de violencia y en concreto aquellas estrategias que utilizan el drama para concienciar sobre estos aspectos. Este estudio analiza el desarrollo de un taller universitario de teatro social realizado durante tres semestres con 50 estudiantes con el propósito de abordar temas como la xenofobia y la discriminación étnica entre jóvenes y adolescentes. Como resultado se obtuvieron diversas escenas y dinámicas dramáticas efectivas para la reducción de los temas tratados. Se concluye que estas estrategias teatrales pueden servir de referencia en otros contextos y bajo enfoques metodológicos similares a la hora de recurrir al entretenimiento, el arte y la educación como una forma más de concienciar y sensibilizar hacia este tipo de violencia.
